The Destination

We Know the Way Into Vail Village.

The Sonnenalp sits right in the middle of Vail Village, fronting Meadow Drive at the corner of Vail Road. Its entrance is on Vail Road, directly across from the Vail Interfaith Chapel, a town landmark since 1969, with La Bottega on the corner just across Meadow Drive, and Gore Creek and the Covered Bridge a few steps away. Step out the door and the shops, the galleries, the lifts, and most of the best restaurants in town are all a short walk in every direction. It is a Bavarian-style hotel that opened in Vail in 1979, and it has been owned and run by the Faessler family ever since, now into the fifth generation, with a full spa and a heated pool on site.

The hotel has its own dining too, all under the same roof: Bully Ranch, the Swiss Chalet, King's Club, Ludwig's, and the Treff Café.

It is one of the best-run hotels in Vail, and the reason is the people. The staff are Vail locals who have been there for years, the same bellmen at the door season after season, and a concierge in Victor Rossi who half the town knows by name. We have a soft spot for the place, because it is run the way we run: a family business, the same faces year after year, nobody hiding behind a corporate desk.

For your arrival, what matters is that Vail Village is mostly pedestrian, so the access points are particular. We know them, and we know the Sonnenalp's entrance off Vail Road, so we pull right up to the door instead of circling the village. When we drop a guest there, we know they are in good hands the moment they step inside.

After a long travel day, the last thing you want is a driver who has never found this entrance before.

Local Drivers

Local Drivers Matter in Vail.

Winter driving in the Colorado mountains is its own thing. Snow on Vail Pass, traffic on I-70, and icy mornings in the village are all part of the job.

We are based in the Vail Valley, and our drivers are on these roads all winter. That local experience matters when your family and your gear are in the car. A storm on Vail Pass is a problem we solve, not one we hand to you.

What We Do

Both Airports. One Vehicle, Door to Door.

Private SUV and Sprinter transportation between the Sonnenalp and the airports that serve the valley, plus transfers from Beaver Creek, Aspen, and the other mountain towns.

Denver International (DIA). 120 miles from Vail, about two hours. This is most of our airport work.

Eagle County (EGE). About thirty minutes from Vail Village, with seasonal direct flights from major East Coast and Midwest cities.

We also meet private aviation at the Vail Valley Jet Center and run local trips around Vail and over to Beaver Creek. Every trip is private. We do not run shared shuttles. The vehicle you book is yours from pickup to drop-off.

Chevrolet Suburban

One to six passengers with luggage and ski gear. The right vehicle for a family arriving at the Sonnenalp.

Mercedes Sprinter

Seven to fourteen passengers. Wedding and group shuttles, family reunions, ski clubs, and corporate parties.

Transparent Pricing

All-Inclusive Flat Rates.

Sonnenalp ↔ DIA
$595 each way, Suburban
Up to 6 passengers. Sprinter $895.
Sonnenalp ↔ EGE
$290 each way, Suburban
Up to 6 passengers. Sprinter $430.

The price you see is the price you pay. Gratuity, fuel, fees, and taxes are included. No surprises at the end of the trip. Beaver Creek, Aspen, and hourly charters quoted on request. Holiday and high-season pricing may apply.

The Experience

We Wait on You. Not the Other Way Around.

We like to have our ducks in a row. By the time you walk out, the vehicle is already there, warm, and loaded. The minute you are settled and the door closes, the driver buckles in, makes sure everyone is secure and comfortable, and we are moving. You are never sitting in the car waiting on a driver who is still sorting things out. That work is done before you ever open the door.

We track your flight and adjust to delays automatically. No calls, no texts, no rebooking. The minute you land at DIA, we text you simple directions to your vehicle, where it is parked and which Suburban is yours. Grab your bags, walk straight to the car, and we go.

For private arrivals, we meet you planeside at Signature's Vail Valley Jet Center and the NetJets facility at EGE. We help with bags and ski gear, and we have you to the door of the Sonnenalp without fuss. Early morning departures are routine for us. We are there before you are, every time.

Private Aviation

Flying Private? We Meet You on the Ramp.

If you are arriving by private jet, we coordinate with the FBO ground crew, pull up to the aircraft, load your bags and gear, and go. No terminal, no lobby wait unless you want one. Send us your tail number and FBO, and we give your flight crew a direct number for the ground.

Eagle County (EGE)

Signature's Vail Valley Jet Center and the NetJets facility. About 40 minutes to Vail. The closest jet airport, with on-site U.S. Customs for international arrivals.

Rifle (RIL)

Atlantic Aviation. About two hours to Vail. The field that stays open when weather closes the mountain airports, and the smart backup when Eagle or Aspen go down.

Denver Centennial (APA)

Signature, Modern Aviation, and Denver jetCenter, on the south side of Denver and clear of the DIA terminals. About two and a half hours to Vail.

Aspen (ASE) and Denver (DEN)

Atlantic Aviation at Aspen, plus the private terminals at Denver International. Wherever you land in the region, tell us and we will be there.

We track your flight and adjust to early or late arrivals automatically. Customs clearance at Eagle makes EGE the easy choice for guests flying in from Mexico City, Monterrey, and beyond.
