Getting Around

Getting Around Vail Is Easy. Until It Isn't.

The Town of Vail bus is free and it is good. It covers the whole town, the villages are built for walking, and most hotels run their own shuttles. If you are going from your hotel to Vail Village in the middle of the day, use them.

Private car service starts making sense when you are going farther, staying out later, carrying gear, or you simply do not want your evening built around a bus schedule.

Vail and Beaver Creek, both directions. The Town of Vail bus does not run between the two resorts. Skiing one mountain today and the other tomorrow, dinner at one and a bed at the other, a mid-trip hotel change, or friends staying on the other side of the valley.

Evenings that run long. A late table, a second round, a night that outlasts the bus schedule.

Edwards, Avon, Minturn, Bachelor Gulch, Cordillera. Outside the free system.

The Vail Valley Jet Center. Private aviation arrivals and departures.

Trailhead drop-offs. Backcountry days start and end where there is no bus.

Gear, small kids, older parents, or weather. The trips where a bus is technically possible and genuinely unpleasant.

Tell us the trip and we will quote it. Call (970) 471-9792.

Who We Are

Same Two Owners. Same Standards.

Vail Powder Cars is a family-run private car and limo service in Vail, Colorado, operating since 2015, and the trusted car service for Inspirato members in Vail for over a decade. We are a small, family-operated company known for personal service and direct airport transfers from both Denver International (DIA) and Eagle County (EGE). We tailor every trip to your schedule, carry your luggage and ski gear, and put you in one of our Suburbans or Sprinters, never a shared shuttle.

Vail Powder Cars is family-owned by George and Kyla Sink. We have lived in this valley since 1994, long before we started this business. Same address for 17 years. Not a PO box at the Vail Post Office, not a fake West Meadow Drive pin drop. It is where we live. If there is a problem, you can come knock on our door.

When you book a car with us, you are getting the company George and Kyla built, with the standards they set.

What We Do

In-Valley Trips, and the Airport Runs Too.

Local trips are a large part of what we do: between hotels, between Vail and Beaver Creek or Bachelor Gulch, to and from the Vail Valley Jet Center for private aviation arrivals, and trailhead drop-offs for backcountry days.

We also run private SUV transportation between Vail and the two airports that serve the Vail Valley:

Denver International Airport (DIA). 120 miles from Vail, two hours best case. Most of our airport bookings.

Eagle County Regional Airport (EGE). About thirty minutes from Vail. The closer option, with seasonal direct flights from major East Coast and Midwest cities.

Our Fleet

Built for the Colorado High Country.

Chevrolet Suburban

Full-size luxury SUVs for one to six passengers with luggage and equipment.

Mercedes Sprinter Van

For larger groups, wedding shuttles, family reunions, ski clubs, and corporate parties of seven to fourteen.

We buy our vehicles, we maintain them, and we sell them when it is time. We do not lease, we do not run a mixed bag of contractor cars, we do not put miles on equipment we do not own. Every vehicle runs snow tires from November through April. We are not putting our drivers, one of whom happens to be our son, in a car with suspect tires or a light on the dash. That is the standard.

Transparent Pricing

All-Inclusive Flat Rates.

Vail ↔ Denver (DIA)
$595 each way, Suburban
Up to 6 passengers. Sprinter on request. About 2 hours.
Vail ↔ Eagle (EGE)
$290 each way, Suburban
Up to 6 passengers. Sprinter on request. About 40 minutes.

The price you see is the price you pay. Gratuity, fuel, fees, and taxes are included, with no surprises at the end of the trip. Sprinter and hourly charter rates available on request. Round-trip discounts available. Rates shown are our summer rates. Winter rates are higher and are quoted before you book. Within a season the price does not move: no storm pricing, no holiday surge, no surprise at drop-off.

Local trips are quoted for the trip itself, because a quick run to Beaver Creek and an evening with several stops are not the same job. Tell us where you are going and when, and you get the number before you book. Call (970) 471-9792.

The Experience

We Are Waiting for You, Not the Other Way Around.

Most people who book with us are coming from somewhere, New York, Washington, Miami, Boston, Chicago, and have skied or visited Vail before. They have used a few different car services over the years. They book us because they have decided they are done sorting through options every time they fly out.

We track your flight and adjust to delays automatically, no calls, no texts, no rebooking. The minute you land at DIA, we text you with simple, clear directions to your vehicle: something like "head out Door 510, Island 2, first Suburban on your left, tag VPC 04." Grab your bags and walk straight to the car. No looking for a driver, no holding a sign, no confusion.

We meet private aviation planeside at Signature's Vail Valley Jet Center and the NetJets facility at EGE. We help with bags and ski gear. The vehicle is clean, the driver is professional and happy to see you. If anything goes sideways, we handle it. That is the job.

We have been doing this long enough to know what matters: showing up, being prepared for weather, knowing the route, and treating every trip like it is the most important one of the season.

Areas We Serve

Anywhere in the Valley.

Pickup and drop-off anywhere in Vail Village, Lionshead, Cascade Village, Golden Peak, West Vail, East Vail, and Eagle-Vail. Same service in Beaver Creek, Bachelor Gulch, Arrowhead, Edwards, Cordillera, and the surrounding valley.

Trailhead drop-offs and pickups for backcountry travelers. Airport service to and from DIA, EGE, and the Vail Valley Jet Center.

If you are not sure whether your destination is in our service area, call us. The answer is almost always yes.

Frequently Asked Questions

How far is Vail from Denver International Airport?
Vail is 120 miles west of Denver International Airport via I-70. The drive takes approximately two hours in clear conditions, longer in winter weather and weekend traffic.
How long is the drive from Vail to Denver airport?
The distance is 120 miles. Two hours best case means averaging 63 miles per hour the entire way, clear weather, no traffic, no construction, no slowdowns through the Eisenhower Tunnel, no truck traffic crawling up Vail Pass. You have to haul the mail to average 63 mph. The minute you stop for the bathroom, grab food, change a diaper, or show up ten minutes late for your pickup, kiss that average goodbye. In ski season the weekend traffic up to the mountains is in the morning, and the afternoon return runs heavy too. Summer is worse, with heavy traffic in both directions until 6 or 7 PM. We recommend leaving Vail at least four hours before your flight in winter, and at least three and a half in summer. Flying out on a weekend any time of year, give yourself the full four hours.
How much does a car from Vail to Denver airport cost?
$595 each way for a Chevrolet Suburban, all-inclusive for up to six passengers with luggage and equipment. Sprinter pricing for larger groups is available on request. No additional fees, no surprise charges, gratuity included.
What happens if my flight is delayed or lands early?
Give us your flight number when you book and Kyla tracks that flight from the moment it leaves the originating airport, not from the moment it is due in Denver. If you are held four hours out of LaGuardia, we already know and your pickup moves with you. A delayed flight is never a charge, no matter how long the delay runs. The 60 free minutes start when you reach the gate, not when your flight was scheduled to land. If you land early, you do not need to call us. Kyla is watching the flight rather than the schedule, so we know you are early before you are on the ground, and the pickup moves with you. When you land, your driver texts you plain directions to the car, something like "out door 512, Island 2, first Suburban on your left." We run 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Pickups between 10 PM and 7 AM add $100, and that is the whole of it.
Do you provide car seats?
Yes. Booster seats and child seats are available on request at no additional charge. Just let us know the ages and weights of any kids when you book and we will have the right seats installed and ready. We are not trying to nickel-and-dime you. We appreciate your business and we hope you come back.
Do you drive in snowstorms?
Yes. We have been driving I-70 over Vail Pass in every condition Colorado throws at it for thirty-plus years. Our vehicles run snow tires through the winter and our drivers are local. Every driver completes the Vail Powder Cars Winter Driving Program before carrying a guest, and every vehicle is maintained under our documented mountain-service standards. We know when to leave early, when the chain law is going up on Vail Pass, and when CDOT is about to close the pass entirely. Anyone can make the drive on a bluebird day. We relish the powder days.
What happens if Vail Pass closes during my trip?
Vail Pass closes a few times every winter, usually for avalanche danger or a multi-vehicle accident on the steep grades. We monitor CDOT conditions constantly. If a closure happens during your trip, we know the alternate routes, through Leadville and Copper, or holding at the Frisco exit until the pass reopens. We have been doing this long enough that a closure is a problem we solve, not a problem we hand to you.
Can you accommodate ski equipment?
Yes. Suburbans easily handle six passengers plus skis or boards for everyone. For larger groups or expedition gear, the Sprinter has the capacity for groups of up to fourteen with all their equipment.
How far in advance should I book?
For peak holiday weeks (Christmas, Presidents' Day, Spring Break, MLK), book as soon as you have flight details, those weeks fill up months ahead. For regular ski season weeks, a week or two of notice is usually enough. We do our best to accommodate same-day and last-minute bookings, but we cannot promise availability without notice.
Do you pick up from the Vail Valley Jet Center?
Yes. Private aviation pickups at the Jet Center are routine for us. We meet your aircraft planeside, handle bags, and have you at your destination quickly. Same service for arrivals at the NetJets facility at EGE.
Do you work with property managers, wedding planners, and concierges?
Yes. We are the preferred transportation partner for several luxury rental and event operations in the valley. If you are a property manager or planner who needs reliable transportation for your guests or clients, give us a call.
Is the vehicle mine for the whole trip, or do we change cars along the way?
The vehicle you book is yours from pickup to drop-off. We do not transfer guests between vehicles partway through a trip, we do not stop to collect other passengers, and we do not run shared shuttles of any kind. Every Vail Powder Cars reservation is a private vehicle for your party only. The driver who meets you at the airport is the driver who carries your bags to the door.
Can you take us to dinner and pick us up afterwards?
Yes, and it is one of the most common local requests we get. Tell us the restaurant and the time, and whether you want us waiting or coming back for you.
Do you drive between Vail and Beaver Creek?
Yes. The Town of Vail bus does not run between the two resorts, so this is one of our common local trips: skiing, dinner, hotel changes, or visiting friends staying on the other side of the valley.
What does a local trip cost?
It depends on the trip, so we quote it rather than publish a table. Call and we will give you the number up front, all-inclusive, the same as our airport rates.
