Pepi's, Hotel Gasthof Gramshammer, sits right in the heart of Vail Village at 231 East Gore Creek Drive, a short walk from Gondola One and the base of Vail Mountain. Step out the door and the shops, the galleries, the Covered Bridge, Gore Creek, and most of the best restaurants in town are all a few minutes away in every direction.

It is an authentic Austrian gasthof, old-world Gemütlichkeit and alpine charm, established in 1964 by Pepi and Sheika Gramshammer in the earliest days of Vail. Pepi was an Austrian national-team ski racer; Sheika came to the mountains by way of the stage. Their family still runs the place, which makes Pepi's the only business in Vail Village still owned by the people who built it.

Under one roof you'll find 38 uniquely designed rooms, Pepi's Bar & Restaurant with its outdoor patio, the Pepi Sports ski shop, and a specialty boutique. It is a Vail institution, and the reason is the same reason we like it: it is a family business, the same faces year after year, nobody hiding behind a corporate desk.

What matters for your arrival is that Vail Village is mostly pedestrian, so the access points are particular. We know them, and we know the approach to Pepi's off Gore Creek Drive, so we pull right up to the door instead of circling the village. After a long travel day, the last thing you want is a driver who has never found this entrance before.

How far is Pepi's from Denver International Airport?

Pepi's, in Vail Village, is about 120 miles west of DIA via I-70. The drive takes roughly two hours in clear conditions, longer in winter weather and on busy weekends.

How far is Pepi's from Eagle County Airport (EGE)?

About a thirty-minute drive. EGE has seasonal direct flights from many major cities, so for many guests it is the more convenient option.

Yes. We have driven I-70 over Vail Pass in every condition Colorado throws at it for more than thirty years. Our vehicles run snow tires through the winter and our drivers are local. If a closure happens during your trip, we know the alternate routes.

Do you also drive to Beaver Creek and Aspen?

Yes. We provide private transfers between Pepi's and Beaver Creek, Aspen, Lionshead, and private homes throughout the valley, as well as both airports.

How far in advance should I book?

For peak holiday weeks, Christmas, Presidents' Day, Spring Break, MLK, book as soon as you have flight details; those weeks fill months ahead. For regular ski-season weeks, a week or two is usually enough.
